Hissage

Hissage is the third of the 12 traditional Seitei Jodo forms. It is learned and demonstrated as part of Staff III – Advanced Staff. It must be demonstrated with nine snaps:

1. Hiding the jo.
2. Show the jo
3. Gyakute-uchi-no-kamae
4. Hikiotoshi-no-kamae (on the left side, knuckles out)
5. Kuritsuke catch on the sword hilt
6. Sword trap
7. Push
8. Hikiotoshi-no-kamae (on right side, palm out)
9. Strike to the bridge of the nose
