Sword II – Intermediate Sword

While sword training may look simple enough, there are a multitude of skills to be learned. It is really the responsibility of each student to keep track of their progress, and to ultimately figure out ways to keep progressing.

And so we have these tools.

There are essentially two aspects to sword training:

  • Basic Skills (Kihon Waza)
  • Forms (Kata)

And basic sword skills are composed of:

  • Solo Stances
  • Solo Drills
  • Paired Stances
  • Paired Drills with Bokken (wooden sword)
  • Paired Drills with Shinai (bamboo sword)

All in all, quite a bit of ground to cover and keep track of. And with this tracker, we can keep on top of the basics – Kihon Waza.
